The FOCUS Mentor Program...
FOCUS stands for:
Families offering Care, Understanding and Support
Cherokee County uses the FOCUS mentoring program, which is designed to support our resource families. The Nebraska Foster and Adoptive Association developed this program.
Mentors are here to assist with information, guidance and direction when faced with a particular problem. This program is based on supporting and strengthening our resource families.
A Mentor can:
- Provide guidance to families
- Help connect families to community resources
- Help with the understanding of court proceedings and DFCS policies
- Be a listening ear
All calls to a Cherokee County Mentor are kept confidential by the Mentor and through a confidentiality agreement. By contacting a mentor families have an opportunity to be heard and encouraged by a mentor.
All Cherokee County Mentors are seasoned foster and or adoptive parents who have been trained.
If you want to connect to a Mentor, please call Craig Block our lead mentor for Cherokee County and he will be glad to assist you. 770-778-3454.
